Connecting Marketo to LightBeam


Overview

LightBeam Spectra users can connect various data sources to the LightBeam application and these data sources will be continuously monitored for PII, PHI data.

Example: Marketo, Salesforce, Hubspot, ADP, etc.


Connecting Marketo Data Source

  1. Login to your LightBeam Instance.

  2. Click on DATASOURCES on the Top Navigation Bar.

  3. Click on “Add a data source”.

  1. Fill in the details as shown below and click on Next:

Basic Information

  • Data Source Name: This is the unique name given to the data source.

  • Description: This is an optional field needed to describe the use of this data source.

  • Primary Owner: An email address of who is responsible for this data source and in case of alerts this email ID will get alerts by default.

  • Entity Creation: LightBeam Spectra detects and associates attributes based on the context and identifies whose data it is; these are called as entities. Example: Jane Doe is an entity for whom LightBeam Spectra might have detected Name and SSN in a monitored data source.

  • Source of Truth: LightBeam Spectra includes monitored data sources that serve as a single point of truth. These sources are utilized for looking up entities/attributes to verify the accuracy of attributes/entities discovered in other data sources. By using a Source of Truth dataset, entities are formulated based on the attributes present in the data.

  • Location: The location of the data source is indicated here.

  • Purpose: The purpose of why the data is being collected/processed.

  • Stage: The stage of the data source. Example: Source, Processing, Archival, etc.

Datasource Configuration

  1. Provide the credentials as shown below and click on Test Connection.

  1. Verify that you get the message “Test Connection Success”.

  2. Click on Save.

Now we are ready to browse through the onboarded Marketo datasource dashboard.

Appendix

Create an API-only Marketo User Role

  1. Navigate to the Admin section in the top navigation menu.

  1. Click on Users & Roles.

  1. Select the Roles tab, then click New Role.

  1. Enter a Role Name, choose API access permission, and click Create.

Create an API Only User

  1. Access the Admin area.

  1. Select Users & Roles.

  1. Click Invite New User.

  1. Enter Email, First Name, Last Name for the API only user, click Next.

  1. Choose the API Only Role, tick the API Only checkbox, click Next.

  1. Click Send.

Create Custom Service

  1. Visit the Admin area.

  1. Click on LaunchPoint.

  1. Click on New and then New Service.

  1. Enter a Display Name for the service. Select the API Only User previously created.

Credentials for API Access

  1. Go to the Admin area.

  2. Click on LaunchPoint.

  1. Click View Details for the custom LaunchPoint service created above.

  1. Click Get Token.

  1. Provide the Client Id, Client Secret, Authorized User, and Token to the person in charge of establishing the connection.

[Optional] Create an Allowlist for IP-Based API Access

  1. Go to the Admin area.

  1. Click on Web Services.

  1. In IP Restrictions, click Edit or click Edit IP Restrictions at top left.

  1. Check the Enable IP Restrictions box and enter the IP addresses you want to add to the Allowed Addresses list.

  1. Click Add to open additional fields to enter more IP addresses.

  1. Click Save.

With these steps completed, you will have all the required configuration parameters like Client Id, Client Secret, and Domain URL to onboard the Marketo data source to LightBeam.
