Data elements are of two kinds:
Normal Data Elements: Any information that relates to an identified or identifiable living individual. Different pieces of information, which collected together can lead to the identification of a particular person, also constitute normal data elements like name, surname, address, email ID, etc.
Special Data Elements: Certain types of sensitive personal data are subject to additional protection under the GDPR. These are listed under Article 9 of the GDPR as “special categories” of personal data. The special categories are:
Personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin.
Political opinions.
Religious or philosophical beliefs.
Trade union membership.
Genetic data and biometric data processed for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person.
Data concerning health.
Data concerning a natural person’s sex life or sexual orientation.
To add data elements, click on Data Elements at the middle of the page as shown in Fig 13.
This displays a small pop-up box. Click on all the data elements that you want to see details of. This will show you all the associated data sources.
You can add a remote data source by clicking on the icon as shown in Fig 14.
Click Next to proceed. Another window will appear as shown in Fig 15.
Click on all the special data elements that you want to see details of. This will show you all the associated data sources.
Click Next to proceed.
You will be able to view all the data elements now as shown in Fig 16 and 17.
Next, select the lawful basis for processing special categories as shown in Fig 18. A drop down will appear. Select the appropriate reasons.
Click on Next to proceed to the next section.
