Data transfers refer to the movement or transmission of personal data from one location, entity, or jurisdiction to another. Data transfers may involve transferring personal data:
Third-party transfers occur when personal data is transferred from one entity (the data controller or processor) to another entity (the third party) that is not directly involved in the original data processing activity. Third parties may include external service providers, vendors, subcontractors, or other organizations.
Cross-border transfers occur when personal data is transferred from one country or jurisdiction to another. In the context of GDPR, cross-border transfers typically refer to transfers of personal data from the European Economic Area (EEA) to countries outside the EEA, also known as third countries.
