Attributes Page View
Users can view attributes in either Card View or List View, allowing them to analyze the distribution and details of each attribute across data sources.
Card View
By Default the attributes are displayed in Card View Format.
Each card shows Key Details of every attribute. For ex: as shown in the figure above the Address attribute card shows:
Attribute Name: Address
Attribute Sets: 6
Address attribute is present in 6 different attribute sets
Total Instances: 124K (124,000 occurrences detected)
This indicates that 124,000 attribute instances have been found
Data Sources: Attributes were found across 14 data sources. For example: Office 365, SharePoint, and more.
Accessible By: 252 users
252 users have access to the Address attribute.
Sensitivity Level: Medium
The Address attribute is classified as having a Medium sensitivity level, indicating a moderate level of confidentiality.
List View
You can switch between Card-View and List-View using the toggle button in the top-right corner.
To switch to List View, click the List View icon in the top-right corner highlighted in the figure below
In List View, attributes are displayed in a table format with the following columns:
Attribute Name: The name of the detected attribute (e.g., Generic, Postal/Zip Code, Password).
Sensitivity: The sensitivity level of the attribute (Low, Medium, or High).
# of Attribute Instances: The total number of occurrences of the attribute detected across data sources.
# of Data Sources: The number of data sources where the attribute is found.
Created By: Specifies whether the attribute was created by the system or by the user.
Viewing Detailed Information for a Specific Attribute
In LightBeam’s Attribute Management page, users can easily access detailed information about any specific attribute.
To view more details, click on the attribute name displayed in either Card View or List View.
The Detailed View of an attribute provides more in-depth information compared to the normal views. In addition to the basic details, the detailed view includes three key sections that provide in-depth information:
1. Overview Page
On the Overview page, you can see a summarized view of the attribute with the following details:
Number of Attribute Instances: Displays the total instances of this attribute across data sources.
Number of Data Sources: Indicates how many data sources contain this attribute.
Accessible By: Shows how many users and groups have access to this attribute.
Top 5 Data Sources Chart: A pie chart visualizing the distribution of attribute instances across the top five data sources.
Attribute Sets: Lists the sets that include this attribute, allowing you to see which collections the attribute belongs to.
2. Data Sources Page
On the Data Sources page, you can view detailed information about where the attribute instances are coming from. This section displays:
Data Source Name: The name of the source containing the attribute.
Data Source Type: The type of source, such as AWS S3, OneDrive, SharePoint, Jira, Azure Blob, Slack, etc.
Number of Attribute Instances: The total count of instances found in each source.
Data Source Owner: The owner or user associated with the source (if applicable).
Accessible By: The number of users and groups who can access this attribute in each data source.
3. Accessible By Page
On the Accessible By page (third image), you can see who has access to the attribute. This section includes:
Total Users and Groups: Displays the number of users and groups with access.
Departments and Privileges: Shows which departments (e.g., Operations, Finance, HR, Sales) have access and their data privileges.
List View Option: You can switch to a list view for a detailed, tabular representation.
Export Functionality: If needed, you can export the list of users and groups into a CSV file for offline use or further analysis.
Filtering Attributes
On the Attribute View Page, you can filter attributes using various criteria to narrow down the list and find the specific attributes you need. Here’s how to do it:
Filter by Sensitivity
Click on the Sensitivity filter to view the sensitivity options.
You will see three options:
High
Medium
Low
You can select one or multiple sensitivity levels to display only the attributes that match the chosen sensitivity classification.
Once you’ve made your selection, click on Apply to filter the results.
Filter by Attribute Name
To filter by attribute name:
Click on the Attribute Name filter.
A dropdown list will appear, displaying all the available attribute names.
You can select multiple attributes by clicking the checkbox next to each name.
Once you’ve selected the desired attributes, click on Apply to filter the results.
Filter by Data Sources
To filter by data sources:
Click on the Data Sources filter.
A dropdown list will show all the available data sources.
You can select multiple sources by clicking the checkbox next to each source name.
Once you’ve made your selections, click on Apply to filter the results.
Filter by Has Instances
The Has Instances filter allows you to display only attributes that have instances.
When you click on this filter, it will:
Show only attributes with instances
Hide attributes with no instances
After selecting this option, click on Apply to confirm the filter.
Filters can be applied in both List View and Card View.
Whether you are viewing the attributes in a list format or a card format, you can use the same filtering options to narrow down the results effectively.
To access the detailed view of any Attribute Set, follow these steps:
Click on the Attribute Set toggle to switch to the Attribute Sets view
Click on the Attribute Set name in either Card View or List View to open its detailed page.
The detailed view enables you to view detailed information about the attribute set, including the total number of attributes, data sources, and the distribution of attribute instances. the detailed view includes three key sections that provide in-depth information:
The Overview tab offers a high-level summary of the attribute set. It displays the following key information:
Number of Attributes: Displays the total count of attributes included in the set.
Number of Data Sources: Shows how many data sources are associated with the attribute set.
Attribute Instance Distribution: This section visualizes the distribution of attribute instances across the top five attributes and data sources using pie charts.
The Top 5 Attributes chart displays the most frequently occurring attributes, with instance counts.
The Top 5 Data Sources chart shows the data sources contributing the most attribute instances, along with their respective counts.
The Attributes tab provides a detailed list of all the attributes included in the set. The displayed information includes:
Attribute Name: The name of each attribute.
Number of Attribute Instances: The total count of instances associated with each attribute.
Sensitivity: The sensitivity level assigned to each attribute (e.g., High, Medium, Low).
Created By: Indicates whether the attribute was added by the system or a user.
This tab allows you to review and verify the specific attributes in the set, along with their sensitivity classification and instance counts.
The Data Sources tab lists all the data sources linked to the attribute set. The following details are shown:
Data Source Name: The name of the data source.
Data Source Type: Indicates the type of data source (e.g., AWS S3, PostgreSQL, Jira, Slack).
Number of Attribute Instances: Displays the total number of attribute instances coming from each data source.
Data Source Owner: Shows whether the data source is owned by the system or a user.
This tab helps you track the origins of the attribute instances and understand which data sources contribute the most to the attribute set.
Note- You can switch between these tabs to explore different dimensions of the attribute set, making it easier to analyze its composition and manage its components efficiently.
On the Attribute Management Page, you can filter Attribute Sets by their Data Sources to quickly find the sets linked to specific sources. Here’s how you can do it:
Click on the Attribute Set tab to view the list of available attribute sets.
Select the Data Sources Filter
Click on the Data Sources dropdown filter.
A menu will appear, displaying a list of all available data sources.
Choose the Data Sources
You can select one or multiple data sources by clicking the checkbox next to each source name.
The selected data sources will be highlighted.
After selecting the desired data sources, click on the Apply button at the bottom of the menu.
The attribute sets linked to the selected data sources will be displayed, filtering out the rest.
If you want to clear the selection, click on the Cancel button or deselect the checkboxes.
This filtering option makes it easier to manage and view only the relevant attribute sets associated with specific data sources, saving time and enhancing efficiency.
