Integration with Auth Provider (Okta)

Onboarding users through the User Management system can become tedious and time-consuming when dealing with a large number of users. Auth providers like Okta offer a solution to this challenge by streamlining the user authentication and role assignment process.

Benefits of Auth Provider Integration

  1. Simplified User Management: Auth providers eliminate the need for manual user onboarding through the LightBeam Playbooks User Management system. Administrators can leverage the auth provider's user directory and role management capabilities to streamline the process.

  2. Single Sign-On (SSO): Integration with auth providers enables Alert Owners to access LightBeam Playbooks using their existing auth provider credentials. This eliminates the need for separate login credentials and provides a seamless login experience.

  3. Centralized Role Assignment: Auth providers allow administrators to map auth provider roles to corresponding LightBeam Playbooks roles. This ensures consistent and automated role assignment across the integrated systems.


Configuring Auth Provider Integration:

To integrate LightBeam Playbooks with an auth provider like Okta, follow these steps:

  1. In the LightBeam console header menu, click on the Settings () icon.

  1. Click on the Add Auth Provider button.

  1. Select the desired auth provider (e.g., Okta) from the available options.

  1. Configure the necessary integration settings, such as API keys, endpoints, and authentication protocols, by entering the required information in the provided fields.

  1. Map the auth provider roles to the corresponding LightBeam Playbooks roles. For example, map the "Alert Owner" role in LightBeam Playbooks to a specific role or group in the auth provider.

  1. Save the integration settings and enable the auth provider integration.

Accessing Alerts through Auth Provider Integration

Once the auth provider integration is configured, Alert Owners can access LightBeam Playbooks and their assigned sub-alerts using the following workflow:

  1. Open the auth provider's application portal or login page.

  2. The auth provider will authenticate the user and automatically log them into LightBeam Playbooks.

  3. The Alert Owner will be directed to their personalized Alert Owner Dashboard, where they can view and manage their assigned sub-alerts.

By integrating LightBeam Playbooks with auth providers like Okta, organizations can streamline user management, simplify the login process, and ensure consistent role assignments. This integration enhances the overall user experience for Alert Owners and reduces the administrative overhead associated with user onboarding and management.
