Reset Default Admin Password

Procedure to reset password for any LightBeam user when SAML is not configured. The document also captures the LightBeam password policy when user is required to rest password in order to update.

1. Accessing LightBeam UI:

Access the LightBeam UI through the designated IP address, FQDN, or Loadbalancer endpoint.

2. Administrator Login:

Use the system-provided default admin credentials to log in.

3. SMTP Configuration:

Configure SMTP, which requires sending a password reset link.

  • Click on the settings icon in the top right corner.

  • Click on SMTP.

  • Provide valid input for the fields:

    • Hostname or IP Address: Enter the SMTP server address provided by your email service (e.g., smtp.sendgrid.net).

    • Security Mode: Select the encryption method required by your SMTP server (e.g., SSL).

    • User Name: Input the username or API key assigned by your SMTP provider.

    • Password: Enter the corresponding password or API secret.

    • Port: Specify the port used by the SMTP server (commonly 465 for SMTPs).

  • Click on Test Connection.

  • Once the connection is successful, click on Save Changes.

4. Verifying Admin Email

  • Check the admin email in 'User Management'.

  • If an update is necessary, use 'Actions' > 'Edit' to input the correct email.

  • Once you click on Save Changes, it will send a verify email link.

  • Verify the email by clicking the link sent to your inbox, then log in with the email and the previous password.

5. Resetting Password

To initiate a password reset:

  • Click 'Forgot Password' on the login screen. It will open another page as shown below.

  • Provide the email ID associated with the admin user account.

  • This will send a password reset email. Click on Reset Your Password.

  • In the new window, enter and confirm a new password.

  • Click on Create new password for your account.

  • Now you can log in using your email address and new password.
