Creating Custom Attribute
The Attribute Management feature in LightBeam allows users to create Custom Attributes to detect and manage organization-specific data elements. This is particularly useful when the pre-defined system attributes do not cover all the sensitive data types relevant to the organization.
Note: Custom attributes can only be added in user attribute sets.
Steps to Create a Custom Attribute:
Click the Settings icon located in the top-right corner of the Attribute page.
Click on create custom attributes button in blue
After navigating to the Custom Attribute Creation page, you need to provide the following basic details:
Attribute Name: Enter a unique and descriptive name to identify the custom attribute across the system.
Sensitivity Level: Select the attribute's sensitivity from the dropdown menu, choosing between Low, Medium, and High.
Attribute Set: Choose the attribute set for the custom attribute from the drop down list.
To add the custom attribute to a new attribute set, click on the "Create Attribute Set" button located at the bottom of the dropdown menu.
Once you click on the "Create Attribute Set" button, a pop-up window appears, allowing you to create a new attribute set to add the custom attribute into.
Attribute Set Name: Enter a unique and descriptive name to identify the attribute set across the system.
Description: Provide a brief summary to specify the purpose or content of the attribute set.
After entering the details, click on the "Save and Go Back" button to create the new attribute set and return to the custom attribute creation page.
Note: The details of the attribute set can be edited later
Detection Mechanism for Custom Attributes
Once the basic details and attribute set are configured, the custom attribute undergoes a detection check. This step ensures that the system can accurately identify and detect the attribute by defining specific keys. The system uses these keys to find exact matches during data processing.
Detection Keys Guidelines- Follow the detection key guidelines displayed in the image.
Enter your keyword in the Key 1 bar.
To add more keywords, click the plus (+) icon next to the bar to generate additional key fields.
Test Input and Validation for Custom Attributes
After entering the detection keys, the system needs to verify the accuracy of the detection mechanism. This step ensures that the detection keys are functioning as expected before finalizing the custom attribute.
Enter test input values in the provided text box.
Click the Validate button to check if the system can correctly match the attribute against the defined keys.
Once all the results are validated, click Save on the bottom right corner to create your custom attribute.
